AAIP, BRIDGING OPEN & NOMINEE-BASED WORK PERMIT DOCUMENT REQUIREMENTS

This guide outlines typical documentation for Work Permits and Alberta’s Provincial Nominee Program under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). Requirements vary by stream and may change without notice. Always verify with your authorized immigration representative prior to submission.

 

AAIP – RURAL ENTREPRENEUR STREAM (RES)

Stakeholders Involved:

• Entrepreneur Applicant
• Authorized Representative
• AAIP Office
• Community Representative (for Letter of Support)
• IRCC

Documents Required:

1. Detailed Business Plan
2. Letter of Community Support
3. Net worth verification documents (as required by AAIP)
4. Proof of business ownership or management experience
5. Language test results
6. Copy of passport
7. Resume or CV
8. Use of Representative Form (IMM 5476), if applicable

 

AAIP – ALBERTA EXPRESS ENTRY STREAM (AEE)

Stakeholders Involved:

• Applicant
• Authorized Representative
• AAIP Office
• IRCC

Documents Required:

1. Proof of Express Entry profile and eligibility under CEC, FSW, or FST
2. Copy of valid passport and Canadian work permit (if applicable)
3. Language test results
4. Education documents (ECA or Canadian credentials)
5. Spouse’s education documents (if claiming points)
6. Reference letters for skilled work experience
7. Recent pay statements (if currently working in Alberta)
8. Alberta job offer letter (if applicable)
9. Proof of Alberta relatives (if claiming adaptability points)
10. Use of Representative Form (IMM 5476), if applicable

 

BRIDGING OPEN WORK PERMIT (BOWP)

Stakeholders Involved:

• Principal Applicant
• Authorized Representative
• IRCC
 
**Note: BOWP cannot be applied at the border.

Documents Required:

1. Confirmation that PR application has been submitted (e.g., Acknowledgement of Receipt or Submission Confirmation)
2. Provincial Nomination Certificate (if nominated)
3. IMM 5710: Application to change conditions, extend stay or remain in Canada as a worker
4. Use of Representative Form (if applicable)
5. Proof of payment for government fees
6. Digital photo
7. Copy of passport and work permit
8. Marriage certificate (if applying with spouse)

 

NOMINEE-BASED WORK PERMIT (R204(c) – IMP EXEMPTION)

Stakeholders Involved:

• Provincial Nominee
• Authorized Representative
• Employer (if offering job)
• IRCC

Documents Required:

1. Provincial Nomination Certificate
2. Job Offer Letter
3. Offer of Employment Number (submitted via Employer Portal)
4. Proof of Employer Compliance Fee payment (unless exempt)
5. IMM 5710: Application form
6. Use of Representative Form (IMM 5476)
7. Copy of passport and work permit
8. Digital photo
9. Marriage certificate (if applying with spouse)
