SPONSORSHIP & SPOUSAL OPEN WORK PERMIT DOCUMENT REQUIREMENTS

 

SPONSORSHIP

 

Stakeholders Involved.

  • An Eligible Sponsor; Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident or Registered Indian.
  • A Primary Applicant who’s Being Sponsored.
  • 3rd Party Representative: Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant, Immigration Lawyer.
  • Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

 

Documents Required for Sponsorship Applying Inside Canada.

Please note that there’s a slight difference between Sponsorship application applying inside of Canada or outside of Canada. Please consult with your reliable 3rd party representative for more information.  

 

  • Submission Letter (from 3rd Party Representative): Outlines overall table of contents of the application. This document is not mandatory, but highly recommended.
  • Document Checklist (IMM 5533).
  • Application to Sponsor, Sponsorship Agreement and Undertaking (IMM 1344).
  • Application & Government Fee Payment Receipt.
  • Financial Evaluation (IMM 1283): This form is required if the person being sponsored has a depend child(ren), who has one or more dependent child(ren) of their own.
  • Generic Application Form (IMM 0008): Explains the applicant’s overall background information.
  • Additional Family Information Form (IMM 5406): The primary applicant and any of the applicant’s family members that are 18 years old or older must fill out this form.
  • Schedule A – Background/Declaration (IMM 5669): The primary applicant and any of the applicant’s family members that are 18 years old or older must fill out this form.
  • Relationship Information and Sponsorship Evaluation (IMM 5532): Both the sponsor and the principal applicant should fill up and sign the document.
  • Use of Representative (IMM 5476): A document that indicates a relationship between a 3rd party representative and an applicant.
  • Photocopy of Marriage Certificate: Required if married.
  • Supporting Documents for Sponsor.
  • Supporting Documents for Sponsored Persons (Principal Applicant and All Family Members).

 

Supporting Documents for Sponsor.

  • Status in Canada: Photocopy of passport information and/or permanent residence card.
  • Proof that the Sponsor and the Sponsored Persons will live in Canada once they become Permanent Residents if the Sponsor is living outside of Canada.
  • Previous Relationship Information: Past marriage and/or past sponsorship information.
  • Employment/Source of Income Information: Original employment letter from current employer, notice of Assessment, and/or proof of income statement.

 

Supporting Documents for Sponsored Persons.

  • Identity Documents: Photocopy of passport information.
  • Status in Canada: If the principal applicant is in Canada, then he/she should provide the existing copy of their status in Canada such as work permit, study permit, etc.
  • Civil Status Documents: Birth certificate, marriage certificate, divorce certificate, death certificate (if applicable).
  • Additional Information about Children: Declaration from Non-accompanying Parent/Guardians for Minors Immigration to Canada (IMM 5604), identity documents, etc.
  • Police Certificates and Clearances: The principal applicant must provide police certificates from countries where he/she lived more than six months or more.
  • Photos: All sponsored persons must provide two recent photos taken less than 6 months.
  • Proof of Relationship to Sponsor: The proof includes but not limited to, a proof that the sponsor and sponsored person is living together, contact messages between them, airline tickets that prove visits between them if living separately, joint ownership or rental agreement, joint bank accounts, government IDs, vehicle insurance, other bills from the same address (cell phones, pay stubs, tax forms, etc.), copy of birth certificates if having children together, photos of wedding, engagement and outings/dates, etc.
  • Medical Examination: All sponsored persons must take a medical examination at a designated medical centers upon request.

 

SPOUSAL OPEN WORK PERMIT

 

Stakeholders Involved.

  • Sponsor: Canadian or Permanent Resident Spouse/Common-law Partner, or a Spouse/Common-law Partner with valid Study Permit or Work Permit.
  • A Principal Applicant.
  • 3rd Party Representative: Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant, Immigration Lawyer.
  • Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
  • CBSA Officer (if applying the work permit at the border or airport).

 

Application Documents Required for Online Work Permit Application.

Please note that paper & border work permit applications may differ to online applications. Also note that spousal open work permit application when applying together with sponsorship application is applied by paper application. Please consult with your reliable 3rdparty representative for more information.

  • Application to Change Conditions, Extend My Stay or Remain in Canada as a Worker (IMM 5710): Explains the applicant’s overall background information.
  • Digital Photo: Photo of an applicant.
  • Use of Representative (IMM 5476): A document that indicates a relationship between a 3rd party representative and an applicant.
  • Photocopy of Passport Information of the Applicant.
  • Photocopy of current/previous work permit or study permit of the Applicant.
  • Marriage Certificate or Common-law Declaration.
  • Sponsor’s status documents (Canadian passport, PR card, work permit or study permit, etc.).
