SKILLS IMMIGRATION

Skills Immigration is designed for skilled and semi-skilled workers who can fill labour shortages in high-demand occupations in British Columbia. Eligible candidates include skilled workers, entry-level and semi-skilled workers, and international graduates. Applicants must meet minimum requirements and receive an invitation to apply from British Columbia. Employers must also meet specific eligibility criteria to sponsor foreign workers.

 

Eligibility Requirements for Skilled Workers:

1. Full-time, indeterminate job offer from a B.C. employer in a NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupation
2. Must be qualified to perform the job duties
3. Minimum of two years of directly related work experience
4. Meet minimum language requirements (CLB 4) for NOC TEER 2 or 3 occupations
5. Job offer must provide a wage in line with B.C. wage rates for the occupation
6. Must be eligible for legal immigration status in Canada
7. Demonstrate the ability to support oneself and dependents
 

Eligibility Requirements for Entry Level and Semi-Skilled Workers:

1. Full-time, indeterminate job offer in tourism/hospitality, long-haul trucking, or food processing
2. In Northeast Development Region: any NOC TEER 4 or 5 occupation (excluding live-in caregivers)
3. Minimum of nine consecutive months of full-time work with the employer
4. Minimum of secondary education
5. Meet minimum language requirements (CLB 4)
6. Job offer must provide a wage in line with B.C. wage rates
7. Must be eligible for legal immigration status in Canada
8. Demonstrate the ability to support oneself and dependents
 

Eligibility Requirements for International Graduates:

Note: The International Graduate stream closed to new registrations on November 26, 2024. New streams are expected to be announced.
1. Completion of a certificate, diploma, or degree from an eligible Canadian institution in the past three years
2. Full-time, indeterminate job offer in a NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupation
3. Must be qualified to perform the job duties
4. Meet minimum language requirements (CLB 4) for TEER 2 or 3
5. Job offer must provide a wage in line with B.C. wage rates
6. Must be eligible for legal immigration status in Canada
7. Demonstrate the ability to support oneself and dependents

 

General Employer Requirements:

1. Established and in good standing in B.C. for at least one year (two years for Entry Level and Semi-Skilled category)
2. Minimum of five full-time employees if located in Greater Vancouver; three if outside
3. Provide full-time, indeterminate employment
4. Maintain a history of ethical business practices
5. Sign an employer declaration
6. Meet domestic recruitment requirements
7. Offer a wage in line with industry standards
