WORK PERMIT FEES & PROCEDURES
Each type of Work Permit application have different ways to apply, and thus each has its own fees and procedures.
LMIA-BASED WORK PERMIT
Government Fee: $155 CAD.
Biometric Fee: $85 CAD (If Required).
Procedure:
- Acquire LMIA.
- Regular LMIA: Takes 8-12 months on average.
- PR Support LMIA: Takes 1-3 months on average.
- Apply for Work Permit.
- Online Application: Takes 1-3 months on average (mostly used method).
- Paper Application: Takes 3-4 months on average.
- Border Application: Takes 1 day on average (arrival at the border or airport from other countries to Canada).
- Result Confirmation.
SPOUSAL OPEN WORK PERMIT
Government Fee: $255 CAD.
Biometric Fee: $85 CAD (If Required).
Procedure:
- Apply for Work Permit.
- Online Application: Takes 1-3 months on average (mostly used method).
- Paper Application: Takes 3-4 months on average.
- Border Application: Takes 1 day on average (arrival at the border or airport from other countries to Canada).
- Result Confirmation.
BRIDGING OPEN WORK PERMIT
Government Fee: $255 CAD.
Biometric Fee: $85 CAD (If Required).
Procedure:
- Apply for Work Permit.
- Online Application: Takes 1-3 months on average (mostly used method).
- Paper Application: Takes 3-4 months on average.
- Border Application: Takes 1 day on average (arrival at the border or airport from other countries to Canada).

POST GRADUATE OPEN WORK PERMIT
Government Fee: $255 CAD.
Biometric Fee: $85 CAD (If Required).
Procedure:
- Receive Diploma/Letter of Graduation & Transcript from the Designated Post-Secondary Institution.
- Apply for Work Permit.
- Online Application: Takes 1-3 months on average (mostly used method).
- Paper Application: Takes 3-4 months on average.
- Border Application: Takes 1 day on average (arrival at the border or airport from other countries to Canada).
- Result Confirmation.
